The Great Barrier Coast will be closed from Monday, but the beaches in the south-west of the city will be open for a brief period to help with the clean-ups, authorities said.

The Great Barrier, South Australia and Queensland Government said it was not aware of any reports of people getting sick or getting hurt from swimming in the polluted waters.
“The beaches are open to public access,” the Queensland Department of Primary Industries said in a statement.
“Residents can access the beaches from the North-West Coast and from the south coast.”
Visitors will be able enjoy the scenic beauty of the Great Barre Beach and its beautiful beaches for the duration of the closure.
“The closure will be in place from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
The beaches will remain closed until at least the middle of the day on Saturday and Sunday.
