The National Football League announced Monday that it has introduced a new product in an effort to reduce water pollution and keep players hydrated.
Pura Water filters, also known as pura filters, are designed to filter the water and remove micro-organisms and toxins from water.
Pura filters are available to players at participating NFL stores.
“Pura filters help keep players clean by removing harmful microorganisms and keeping their bodies hydrated,” the NFL said in a statement.
“We are proud to offer these water filtration devices to our players, who are an integral part of our community and are at the forefront of innovation.
We will continue to work closely with our players to ensure their health and well-being.”
The NFL said it plans to expand its use of the pura filter.
The product is currently sold in the U.S. and Europe, and is available at NFL stores in the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany.
It is also available online at www.powebay.com and at select online retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Walmart Supercenter.
The NFL and the players union agreed to a three-year deal in November 2015 to provide a single water filter to all NFL players.
The filter comes with a 30-day return policy.
The league’s contract with the union calls for the use of a pura-filter device by all NFL teams.
Players are expected to wear protective gear while using the device, which must be washed and dried in a fan-controlled area, and then returned to the field.
In an update posted on the league’s website Monday, the NFL noted that its “pura water” filter is compatible with all of the company’s water filters, including the Aquamid, the Puri, and the Pura.
The pura canister, also called the Puracool, also is a filter and is sold through the NFL’s website.
The new product, which is sold in retail stores, is made by Puracoo, a subsidiary of the US-based company Aqua.
The Aqua product has been approved by the EPA for use in water treatment and disinfection, and it has been sold by the NFL since last year.
